Moving iTunes to a new computer (XP to 7)

by

Windows XP to Windows 7.
Copied iTunes [music] folder to new computer and ran iTunes.
iTunes finds many duplicates, and broken links… weird!
Found that iTunes keeps the library/settings/locations in different locations on the old computer so when I copied the music over to the new PC it was looking in c:\users\user\music instead of c:\documents & Settings\user\music

Fix is to copy ALL these folders/files not just your iTunes library into the same location on the new machine;

---

Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes

to

\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

Documents and Settings \USERNAME \Local Settings \Application Data \Apple Computer \iTunes

to

\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes

Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes

to

\Users\USERNAME\Music\iTunes

Then boot up iTunes and it should take it from there.
