Setup Quickbooks on a server.

I do this now and then and always seem to forget the process, then have to research the issue over again.

So instead of that, let’s put it down here…

  • Download and install Quickbooks on the server.
  • When you install it, just choose the option that this machine will host the files but never run Quickbooks.
  • Browse to the folder housing the QB DB files.
  • Click SCAN folders and it should find all the DB’s.
  • Whatever the installer does, it does not open ports on the firewall of your server. So you need to do this. Manually.
  • Here are the ports;
  • QuickBooks 2014: 8019, 56724, 55358
  • QuickBooks 2013: 8019, 56723, 55353
  • QuickBooks 2012: 8019, 56722, 55348
  • QuickBooks 2011: 8019, 56721, 55343
  • QuickBooks 2010: 8019, 56720, 55338
  • QuickBooks 2009: 8019, 56719, 55333
  • And while you’re at it you may as well open the QB Apps too but I don’t think that matters really.
